We love beer, obvi. So when we put together our Christmas wish lists, there’s always some beer gear we crave. This year, we partnered with breweries to create The Beer Sister’s Favourite Things Giveaway a la Oprah. One lucky person will win everything on our list!
And…. we have a winner! Congrats to Jess Collins, enjoy it girl.
Please check out the complete contest details below.
1. Lake of the Woods Brewing Company Retro Cooler
This retro cooler from Lake of the Woods Brewing Company is a beauty. We’re digging its 40’s vintage vibe, reflector stripes and range of hues, from cherry red, to mint green to robin’s egg blue. It fits a six-pack and a couple of sammies, and the brewery has donated one for our winner. For the rest of you — grab one online, or at the brewery.
2. Muskoka Brewery Dinner Jacket
We’ve been lustily eyeing this red and black warmer all year. Sometimes beer gear can get tired, but the classic lumberjack, black-and-red check, and utility of a coat versus a T-shirt sold us on this cozy topper. Muskoka will hook our winner up with one in their size.
BONUS: The generous folks at Muskoka have also thrown in a BIG SURPRISE bonus for the winner, which we’ll announce mid-month.
3. Nickel Brook Funk Lab VIP Experience for Two
Getting out to visit breweries can be hard when you have a bat-shit crazy toddler in tow. But we’ve been dreaming of hugging the barrels at the newly-opened Funk Lab in Burlington for a tour and a tasting. That’s where you come in, you can do it for us and report back. We’re giving away a VIP tour and tasting for you and a friend.
4. SOBDL Hat
The Society of Beer Drinking Ladies gear is as stylish as the ladies-only beer tasting club is hip. We love this all-black fitted baseball cap (Tara’s sporting it on the far left) with the Ladies’ moniker embroidered on top so much we want you to have one too. Learn more about the SOBDL’s events on their site, and see what beers they’re drinking at the moment.
5. Cicerone Certification Program Flash Cards
Studying for the Advanced Cicerone (Crystal) and Certified Cicerone (Tara) are two of our biggie goals for 2017. We’ll use these beer style flashcards from the Cicerone Certification Program to help us nail the exams. We’ve got the 2-pack to giveaway.
6. Four Tickets to the Steam Whistle Roundhouse Winter Craft Beer Festival
Take three of your besties to the coldest, and coolest, winter beer fest at the Roundhouse downtown Toronto on February 11th. We love this fest because it’s gets you out of the house for the day in those long winter months where all you want to do is watch Netflix and eat leftover Christmas chocolates (it’s also incredibly well-executed unlike some other winter beer festivals we’ve been to…). Make sure to don your long undies, woolie socks and warm boots to taste beer and cider form around Ontario. Plus, this year Steam Whistle is bringing in some brews from small Alberta breweries. Yeehaw!
7. A Juicy, Juicin’ IPA
We love IPAs, especially the juicy ones that pack a big tropical fruit punch from the hops. Juicin’ from Sawdust City is bursting with peaches and mangos, with a lusciously soft mouthfeel. We’ll give you a voucher for two cans. The IPA is a brewery-release only and has been flying off the shelves of the Gravenhurst Brewery, so consider this an exclusive prize. Don’t worry if you don’t win, Sawdust is already planning to release it again in time for summer.
8. IPA Glasses
A collaboration between two of America’s most esteemed hop heads (Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada) and a fancy glassware company, its design maximizes the aromas and flavours while keeping carbonation. We love it ’cause it’s amazeballs for hop bombs. We have two OCB branded glasses to give away.
9. BeerAdvocate Magazine
We love to geek out to quality beers reads, and marvel at the glossy pics in BeerAdvocate magazine. We’ve got a one-year subscription for the winner.
10. Tasting Flight at the Soon-to-be-Opening Thornbury Village Cider House and Prize Pack
We’re so excited that the cidery will soon be open to the public (to learn more about the plight of cider makers and the rules that inhibit them, check out Crystal’s article) and the tasting room will have different seasonal ciders available to taste. They’ll be opening up next year, so you’ll have to wait, but in the meantime enjoy a Thornbury prize pack filled with fun gear, including their new spiced cider. It’s quite sweet so we like it best mulled with cinnamon sticks, for holiday guests.
