When Visit Grapevine, one of America’s leading tourism organizations, asked us to be the Beer Festival entertainment for their 33rd Festival we brought our A-Game.

Grapevine, a suburb of Dallas, is a very special place, its historic main street looks like it’s straight out of an Old Western movie. It’s sprinkled with tin-walled General Stores, smoky BBQ spots, and quaint boutiques.

And a few times a year the street closes to cars and fills with 180,000 beer-loving folks from neighbouring states.

Before the fest, we did five days of radio and TV appearances to talk to folks about beer basics and to get ’em excited to come out that weekend. We made two  TV appearances on Good Morning Texas. Then we hit the airwaves with radio veterans Brian Glenn and David Wells, and KLUV personalities, Rebekah Black and Angela Chase (check that one below).

We also guested with pitmaster, AJ, and Barside Jive host DC, on their youtube show filmed inside A.J.’s on Main. We’ll share it once it’s up, but subscribe to their channel in the meantime, these guys are awesome.

In between all of that we discovered a stellar milkshake IPA from a brewery that hasn’t even broken ground yet, Turning Point Beer. Then we fell in love with all the beer from Real Ale Brewing (the Pinsetter Amber Lager is stellar with smoked brisket), and Community Beer Works. During the Fest we kept going back for refills of Odell’s IPA.

Then on Friday, Saturday and Sunday we worked up a sweat in the Texas heat thanks to our Canadian-made drinking suits. And as the beer festival entertainment, we chatted with patrons about what beers to drink at the fest, and gave two presentations each day — one titled, How to Taste Beer Like a Boss Lady; and the other titled, Women & Beer: We Started That Shizzle.

Our presentations included guided tastings of zany brews from Sierra Nevada, Maui Brewing, Dogfish Head Brewery, Left Hand Brewing, and Adelbert’s Brewing. Plus we touched on the Certified Cicerone and Prud’homme Beer Sommelier programs.

We had a blast! And we’d love to bring fun, educational elements to your food and drink festival. As Beer Festival Entertainment, we can create everything from tutored beer and cider tastings, to festival promotion with media, to food pairing workshops and guided tours of the best beers on the festival floor, we can help you create a special experience for your festival guests. We can do it all — get in touch!

And if you’re in London, Ontario for the London Beer & BBQ Show June 16-18th, come and say hi. We’re leading two beer trails — the Drink This Sister! Ladies Brew Trail, and the Father’s Day Extreme Craft Beer Trail, and some Beer-Cathalon Workshops.
